Okay, first I have to talk about the Opening Ceremonies in Beijing… What I kept thinking was, are the folks in London crapping their pants, or what? How can they possibly compete in 2012? Jousting, Shakespeare and 2012 dancing tea cups and scones? Is there a creative force in the UK with the vision of Zhang Yimou? Geee… Guy Richie? Ken Loach? It will be interesting to watch… the commitment to the work by the PRC was staggering… I can’t see those resources being available in the UK.
And BTW, I can’t see how the addition of Spielberg (who dropped out of his role as creative advisor regarding Dafur) to the creative team could have done anything but diminish the artistic voice and basically raise the schmaltz quotient. Like mixing Pepsi and jasmine tea.
